Marvel fans may get a longer Avengers: Doomsday experience because of one MCU character’s comeback. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the awaited superhero epic arrives in one month.
An insider on X, @blueminutes, recently shared a wild rumor, claiming Doomsday might run longer than expected. According to the scoop, the movie is expected to run 2 hours and 58 minutes. And it’s because of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch’s newly added scenes. The previously reported runtime of Doomsday was 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Marvel hasn’t locked in an official runtime for the movie yet. Additionally, the new rumor claims Disney may plan to shorten the runtime.
For now, MCU fans should take the latest scoop with a grain of salt, since the insider has a middling track record.
The Russo brothers may have a bigger reason to expand Wanda’s role before Secret Wars
The latest rumor also mentions that Wanda, played by Elizabeth Olsen, may have a prominent role not just in Doomsday, but also in Avengers: Secret Wars. That might explain why she could get extra screen time in the upcoming movie.
Last month, another insider, James Mack, claimed that Marvel may adapt the Children’s Crusade storyline from comics to focus more on Wanda and the Young Avengers in Secret Wars. The comic book story showed Wanda as the leader of the Young Avengers/Champions.
While Marvel hasn’t confirmed it, several rumors suggest Wanda will return in Doomsday’s post-credits scene. However, fans should take all unverified claims and reports with strong caution for now.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Its massive cast is led by Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, David Harbour as Red Guardian, and more.
