Fans wondering when Paul Bettany‘s Vision will return to the MCU may not have to wait long. Following VisionQuest, the synthezoid has been linked to an Avengers return, with a new rumor pointing to Marvel’s next big-screen plans.
In a now-deleted post, scooper James Mack claimed that Bettany’s Vision would return in this year’s Avengers: Doomsday. The scooper also claimed that Vision would appear in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. However, this remains an unconfirmed rumor, and Marvel Studios has not announced Vision’s involvement in either film.
VisionQuest could set the stage for Vision’s next MCU chapter
Bettany’s Disney+ series explores White Vision’s struggle with his identity amid a digital conspiracy. The show reunites Vision with one of his sons, Tommy Maximoff. Marvel has also hinted that Vision and Tommy could eventually reunite with Billy Maximoff. It remains to be seen whether Vision will play a part in the MCU’s future beyond the show.
The series has also expanded the backstories of several AI characters in the MCU. After voicing Ultron in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, James Spader reprised the role in the series. The series has introduced many characters Marvel Comics fans will recognize, like Jocasta, Paladin, Phineas Horton, Synthetic Man, and Lisa Molinari.
Most recently, Bettany commented on the possibility of reprising the role in the future. He will next appear alongside Steven Yeun in a new Netflix horror show.
Avengers: Doomsday will reunite many of the original Avengers with the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, and the original X-Men. Together, they will face off against Doctor Doom, played by Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. The film also brings back Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars will release a year later on December 17, 2027.
VisionQuest is now streaming on Disney+.
