What is the new Robin Hood movie with Antony Starr about?
According to the official description, The Lie of Sherwood Forest turns the familiar folklore of Robin Hood into a “grounded, hard-hitting fight for survival, loyalty and justice, bringing a contemporary edge to one of storytelling’s most enduring figures.”
The movie sees Robin Hood and his band of outlaws tricked by a young woman into carrying out a daring rescue of her captured brother, a mission that soon becomes a perilous heist. As allegiances come into question and hidden agendas begin to surface, Robin and his companions must face the consequences of challenging those in power.
The Lie of Sherwood Forest comes after two major Robin Hood-inspired releases in 2026. Earlier this year, Hugh Jackman starred as the famous outlaw in The Death of Robin Hood, his final days. The movie also starred Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.
Additionally, Andrew Garfield’s period drama The Uprising was briefly marketed with the tagline The Rise of Robin Hood. The film featured a Robin Hood-inspired epilogue.
