Melissa Rycroft reveals she’s seeking professional help after another crash
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Rycroft said she felt “deeply ashamed and embarrassed” about what happened. She admitted that she has struggled with her mental health for a long time. “I’ve fought this for a long time on my own, and it’s time to admit that I can’t do it anymore,” she wrote. She said she will receive professional care as she works to feel like herself again.
Rycroft also explained why she wants to make a change for her family. “This is so hard to say and the shame is still very much there, but I’m ready to feel like myself again, for me and my family,” she shared. Rycroft also spoke about how much her struggles have affected the people closest to her. “They have stood by me through all of this, and they deserve honesty,” she wrote, adding, “They deserve me at my best.”
She said getting healthy is something she is working toward “for all of us.” She also asked fans to “have some grace” and respect her family’s privacy as they navigate this difficult time together. The statement follows Rycroft’s arrest in Texas over the weekend, after police said she allegedly drove under the influence. It was reported that she allegedly hit an ambulance and left the scene. She was then arrested by officers.
The latest case follows a separate DWI arrest from 2025. It was reported that Rycroft received a sentence in August 2026 after pleading guilty in that earlier case. Her recent arrest has put her driving record back in the spotlight. Rycroft says that, for now, she’s concentrating on professional support and asks the public to give her family privacy.
