The upcoming X-Men movie, part of the MCU, continues to spark fan speculation. A new rumor points to a major plot detail involving Iceman.
According to industry insider Cosmic Marvel, “Iceman will reportedly already be at the X-Mansion in ‘X-MEN.’” In a Tuesday X post, the scooper claimed, “He’s expected to be the first mutant to meet Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey.” Knight Edge Media also shared similar information.
The rumor follows Deadline’s report that Ben Wang is in talks to play Bobby Drake, aka Iceman, in the untitled X-Men movie. Wang is best known for his roles in American Born Chinese and in Chang Can Dunk. He also starred in Karate Kid: Legends. He will next appear in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Readers must note that Marvel has not made any official comments regarding the scope of Iceman’s role in the X-Men reboot. So, the recent claims about the character are just rumors for now.
Shawn Ashmore previously portrayed Bobby Drake in the original X-Men film series.
Who else is starring in the MCU X-Men movie besides Ben Wang and Sadie Sink?
Marvel unveiled the principal cast of its X-Men reboot at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event earlier this year.
Sadie Sink has already made her MCU debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Heartstopper star Kit Connor will join her as Scott Summers in the upcoming film. Meanwhile, East of Eden actor Christopher Abbott will play the next Professor Charles Xavier, and Ready or Not actress Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost.
Additionally, Obsession star Inde Navarette joins the cast as Rogue, while Broadway starlet Maya Boyd takes over the role of Storm. Finally, Adam Driver will play the main villain Nathaniel Milbury, aka Mister Sinister.
Jake Schreier will direct the upcoming X-Men reboot, which is slated to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028.
