Marvel Studios’ upcoming Ghost Rider movie has already begun to take shape. Recently, a new rumor has emerged suggesting that the film will include a popular MCU character.
Industry insider James Mack wrote on X, “It’s possible that Robbie Reyes is being introduced in the MCU’s next saga. I’ve heard discussions about him, and he’ll be involved with the Avengers rather than the supernatural side of the MCU.”
In addition to Robbie Reyes, fans have speculated that the MCU might introduce Danny Ketch in the upcoming Ghost Rider film. He is the long-lost half-brother of Ryan Gosling’s Johnny Blaze. However, Reyes and Ketch’s appearance in Ghost Rider is just a rumor. As always, Marvel remains tight-lipped about plot and additional cast details of the upcoming film.
Who is Robbie Reyes in Marvel Comics Ghost Rider lore?
Roberto “Robbie” Reyes is one of the Marvel characters to use the alias Ghost Rider in the comics canon. He first appeared in the All-New Ghost Rider #1 published in March 2014. Robbie is a high school kid who works as a mechanic and is the sole caretaker of his disabled brother, Gabe. Desperate to escape his dangerous neighborhood in Los Angeles, he enters a street race offering $50,000 as prize money. During the race, Robbie is followed by a group of men he assumes are the police. He realizes that if he is taken away, Gabe will have no one to care for him. So he decides to escape, but soon comes to a dead end.
As he steps out of the car, hoping to explain the situation, Robbie realizes that the men are not police officers but dangerous mercenaries. They shoot him dead and plan to burn his body along with his car. After they leave, a demonic entity possessing him revives Robbie, transforming him into the new Ghost Rider. Wearing his iconic flaming helmet, Robbie drives off in his car, engulfed in flames.
Robbie Reyes has already appeared in the MCU in the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where he was played by Gabriel Luna. Whether the actor reprises the role in Ghost Rider remains to be seen.
Directed by Shawn Levy, Ghost Rider arrives in theaters on July 28, 2028.
