Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s popularity ratings have seen a significant decline since their return to the U.K. in August. Their return, however, was met with mixed reactions, with some welcoming them back while others expressed disappointment and anger. Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton continue to remain popular members of the royal family, according to the ratings.
The latest YouGov numbers for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed
The royal family favorability trackers shared by YouGov show Prince Harry at 29% and Meghan Markle at 20% of the public’s positive opinion of them. Meanwhile, 68% of the British population view Meghan critically.
This percentage is 3% higher than what the ratings were in the summer. Her net favorability rating is at -48% this month. Early 2027 will see an update on the favorability ratings, giving an idea of where the public stands in terms of their opinions of the Sussexes.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and flew to California. Over a month after their private reunion with King Charles this year, they returned to the U.K. At present, they live in a non-royal base outside London and don’t have taxpayer-funded security.
These ratings come amid Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., being recently accused of possessing CSAM found in his Philippines home. The Duchess released a statement, addressing this legal situation.
Meghan told in Newsweek in a statement, “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.” She claimed that in 2018 she was made aware of the “troubling and disturbing allegations” against her father. However, at the time, she was reassured that the authorities were investigating the matter.
The As Ever founder continued, “Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
