Royal Fans Weigh in on Calls for Royal Protection for Prince Harry’s Kids — Poll

Royal fans have weighed in on whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, deserve royal protection. The debate comes after the Sussexes abruptly withdrew their children from an elite UK-based school over security concerns.

Harry and Meghan are also seeking taxpayer-funded security for their stay in the UK, prompting fresh discussions about whether their children should receive the same protection.

Royal fans give their verdict on whether Prince Harry’s kids should get royal protection

Royal fans have delivered their verdict on whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, should receive royal protection. The question has sparked heated debate among royal supporters and critics, particularly since the Sussexes stepped down as working royals in 2020 and relocated to California.

As a result, Harry and Meghan are no longer automatically entitled to royal security. However, the couple recently secured approval for an official risk assessment by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC). The review will determine whether they qualify for publicly funded protection during their UK visits (via The Guardian).

Arthur Edwards, the royal family’s longtime photographer, believes Archie and Lilibet deserve royal protection because of their status as royal children. In an interview with The Telegraph, Edwards stated: “They should get royal protection. Because if they were kidnapped, there would be uproar.”

Shortly after Edwards’ statement, The Daily Express conducted a poll asking readers whether Harry and Meghan’s children should receive royal protection. The poll ran from October 28 at 7 a.m. until October 29 at 12:20 p.m. The results showed overwhelming opposition, with 5,766 voters, or 94%, believing Archie and Lilibet should not receive royal protection.

In contrast, just 313 voters, accounting for 5% of the total, supported granting the children royal protection. Another 66 respondents selected an uncertain option, indicating that they either did not know or had no opinion on the matter.

Notably, Archie and Lilibet are now attending a different school. According to Harry, the children are “loving” their new school.
