During the October 24 episode, co-host Paddy Young discussed reports about an investigation involving Thomas Markle Sr. He joked that the allegations represented another attempt to win over the British public. He also referenced Thomas’s move to the Philippines in 2025, sarcastically calling it a “sure sign of his innocence.”
Co-host Ania Magliano then delivered another controversial punchline, linking the allegations to the monarchy’s own scandals. “If the allegations about Meghan Markle’s father are true and he is a pedophile, there is a genuine chance Meghan could be considered royal,” she said. The joke appeared to reference controversies involving former Prince Andrew.
However, many viewers objected to making Meghan the target of jokes about alleged crimes she did not commit. One commenter asked, “Why are we making fun of a woman for a man’s crime????” Another wrote, “Leave Meghan alone.” Others criticized the show’s approach, with one viewer saying, “@snluk lacks wit and talent.”
Meanwhile, Meghan issued a statement on October 23, describing the news as deeply distressing. She said her thoughts were with any children who may have suffered harm. She also explained that she had been made aware of troubling allegations against her father years earlier.
Meghan added that her decision to distance herself from Thomas and prevent him from contacting her children was intended to protect them. Thomas has denied the allegations, calling them “sick lies.” Philippine authorities are investigating the claims, which have not been proven in court.
