Food Network’s most beloved canceled show is making an unexpected comeback, and fans aren’t ready for what’s coming. Jeff Mauro revealed when and where viewers can watch the surprise reunion episode after the show’s cancellation last year.
Jeff Mauro gives update on The Kitchen’s reunion episode
The Kitchen host Jeff Mauro shared a major update about the show’s reunion episode on Instagram on October 17. Food Network canceled the cooking show last year after 40 seasons and over a decade on air. Mauro, Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee Biegel, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Alex Guarnaschelli hosted the series.
Mauro first revealed the reunion during a March episode of Biegel’s All on the Table podcast. He confirmed the cast had reunited to film a special episode. “We shot this back in January. We never thought it was gonna air, and it’s airing now, and we’re really excited,” Mauro said in the Instagram video.
The reunion episode will air on Saturday, October 31, at 11/10c on Food Network. Mauro called it “one super-special episode” and encouraged fans to tune in. He also teased the possibility of more episodes. “Should we come back for more Kitchens?” he asked his wife, Sarah. She replied, “I mean, duh!”
Fans flooded the post’s comments with enthusiasm for the show’s return. One viewer wrote that The Kitchen held “an extra soft spot in my heart” because they watched it with their mother. Another fan urged Food Network to stop producing competition shows and bring back the beloved series permanently.
During the podcast episode, Mauro and Zakarian reflected on the show’s cancellation. Mauro acknowledged that the decision stemmed from corporate factors rather than ratings. “It wasn’t about ratings or what fans wanted,” he explained. He also expressed surprise at the passionate fan response following the cancellation.
Biegel, Mauro, and Zakarian all emphasized the genuine friendships formed during the show’s run. Mauro described the show as irreplaceable. “Nobody can replicate that,” he said. Anderson will not appear in the reunion episode, Biegel confirmed during the podcast conversation.
