Princess Diana Reportedly Resented This King Charles Honeymoon Habit, Claims Author

A royal author has reportedly revealed how Princess Diana allegedly destroyed King Charles’ painting and art supplies during an argument on their honeymoon. The honeymoon was meant to be a romantic time, but royal biographer Penny Junor described tensions between the newlyweds. The couple went on a 12-day cruise around the Mediterranean aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.

A royal biographer suggests Diana was not happy with King Charles painting and reading during their honeymoon

Royal biographer Penny Junor reportedly dished on how Princess Diana dismantled King Charles’ art supplies during an intense argument during their honeymoon. She was angry and hurt that her husband preferred painting and reading over spending time with her on their honeymoon (via Radar Online).

Not only that, but Junor also hinted that Diana was increasingly suspicious of Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, whom he eventually married. The royal author wrote: “She resented him sitting for hours at his (art) easel, too, and they had many blazing rows.”

According to Junor, the future king had carried watercolours, canvases and books by South African writer Laurens van der Post. Charles was hopeful that art and literature would help the newlyweds bond better. However, Diana reportedly believed that Charles preferred focusing on his hobbies rather than spending time with her. This seemingly led to bitter arguments between the couple.

Junor detailed the straw that eventually broke the camel’s back. The royal biographer shared how the Prince of Wales was painting on the veranda deck of Britannia. However, Charles realised he needed something specific and went off to fetch it. The future king returned only to discover that the Princess of Wales had wrecked his painting and all his materials. The incident highlighted the differences between the couple and the tensions that reportedly emerged during their honeymoon. Their marriage later deteriorated, and they separated in 1992 before divorcing in 1996. Diana died in 1997.
