X-Men MCU Rumor Reveals This Beloved Character Won’t Be in New Movie’s Roster

A new report suggests that a beloved X-Men character may not join Marvel Studios’ upcoming mutant team. The studio’s upcoming X-Men film is scheduled to hit theaters in 2028.

During The Cosmic Circus‘ October Q&A session on Discord, insider Alex Perez was asked about his earlier claim that the X-Men lineup would draw partial inspiration from Astonishing X-Men. A fan specifically asked whether Colossus, a prominent character in that comic run, would appear in the upcoming film.

Perez kept his answer short. “Not on the current roster,” he said. His response suggests Colossus is not currently part of the planned lineup, but it does not rule out a future appearance. Marvel has not officially revealed the complete roster for its upcoming X-Men movie.

Colossus has appeared in X-Men movies before

Colossus is a Russian mutant whose real name is Piotr Nikolayevich Rasputin. He is known for transforming his body into organic steel and possesses superhuman strength and durability, making him a prominent member of the X-Men in Marvel Comics.

Colossus made his live-action debut in a cameo in the 2000 film X-Men, portrayed by Donald MacKinnon. Daniel Cudmore later played the steel-skinned mutant in X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. His role in the films was largely limited to background appearances, although he also participated in action sequences to defend Xavier’s school.

Colossus received a more prominent role in the Deadpool films, but the character was portrayed entirely through CGI. Stefan Kapičić voiced a CGI Colossus in Deadpool and Deadpool 2. The actor also returned for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Fans have had mixed reactions to Colossus’ CGI portrayal in the Deadpool films. Some appreciate how the character resembles his comic-book counterpart, from his Russian roots to his personality and involvement in fights against major villains. Meanwhile, others still prefer Cudmore’s version in the earlier X-Men movies.

The upcoming X-Men film does not have a title and is slated to release in theaters on May 5, 2028.
