A new rumor related to the X-Men reboot suggests Marvel may have found its Iceman. Although Marvel has announced several cast members for its upcoming X-Men movie, the casting status of several key characters, including Hank McCoy, Magneto, and Bobby Drake, remains uncertain.
According to a post by James Mack on X, Marvel has reportedly chosen an actor to play one of the original X-Men in its upcoming film. On X, Mack posted, “The actor for Iceman in the X-Men movie has also already been chosen.” However, Mack did not reveal the actor’s identity.
As one of the original five X-Men in Marvel Comics, Bobby Drake, better known as Iceman, can manipulate ice and is classified as an Omega-level mutant in the comics. Earlier rumors also linked Jack Champion, known for Avatar: The Way of Water, to the role of Iceman. Marvel Studios has not confirmed the Iceman casting rumor.
Iceman casting rumor follows earlier claim about Beast in Marvel’s X-Men reboot
Mack has also shared an unconfirmed claim about the casting of Beast. In an earlier post on X, the insider wrote, “The actor playing Beast in the X-Men has already been cast, and an Asian actress has also been cast in a supporting role.” As with the Iceman rumor, Mack did not identify either actor.
According to a few reports, Charles Melton could play Beast. However, before the D23 announcement of the official cast, Melton was reported to have dropped out of the lineup. Other actors rumored for the role have included Peter Claffey, Logan Lerman, and Jesse Plemons. Marvel has not confirmed who will play Beast in the X-Men Reboot.
Directed by Jake Schreier, the upcoming X-Men movie features a confirmed cast that includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, and Asa Germann as Angel.
The Untitled Marvel X-Men film is scheduled to release in theaters on May 5, 2028.
