Sophia Bush is shutting down long-running social media rumors about how her relationship with now-wife Ashlyn Harris started. The actress addressed the timeline that has followed the couple since 2023.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she addressed the Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris cheating claims. The One Tree Hill actress denied that their relationship overlapped with their previous marriages, clarifying that both women had filed for divorce and were living separately before their first date.
“Two people who had filed for divorce and lived in separate residences from their exes went to dinner,” the actress told host Alex Cooper. The 44-year-old pushed back against made-up online narratives, noting that correcting internet speculation can feel pointless. “I’m never gonna change anybody’s mind who made it up,” the Good Sam star explained.

Sophia Bush says she and Harris first connected on Instagram in 2015 before meeting in real life in 2019. Their first date came after the One Tree Hill alum flew home and stopped in New York. She used the stopover to attend a comedy show before taking Harris out. The Chicago P.D. star admits the timing looked bad.
“Do I wish that instead of flying home and stopping in New York because I already had tickets to a comedy show and taking her on a date, I’d taken her on a date six weeks later? Yeah, of course I do. But I can’t change it,” she stated.
This is not the first time the actress has addressed the speculation. In a 2024 Glamour essay, she rejected claims she left her marriage because of a “hysterical rendezvous.” Harris has also said she was “always faithful” in her marriage.
The duo began dating in October 2023. Harris announced her split from Ali Krieger in September 2023. Bush filed for divorce from Grant Hughes in August 2023, after marrying him in June 2022. That tight timeline has fueled cheating claims ever since.
Bush and Harris privately married in the summer of 2025.
