Amanda Seyfried has joined the cast of A24‘s next comedy movie. The casting news comes as Seyfried generates Oscar buzz for her performance as Ann Lee in the historical drama The Testament of Ann Lee and draws attention for her appearance in You Can See Everything.
According to Deadline, the Oscar nominee will star in the comedy Martha and Muhammad. Ramy Youssef and Sharon Stone are also attached to the project. Youssef will direct the film from his own screenplay. Details about Seyfried’s character and the film’s plot remain under wraps.
An earlier report from The Playlist described the story as following a wealthy, widowed white socialite in New York who develops a relationship with a young Muslim man. Class, religion, immigration, and age are all expected to shape the narrative. Youssef will also produce the movie with Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, Christopher Storer, and Tyson Bidner. The comedy movie will be financed by A24.
