Meghan Markle’s Latest Charity Venture Faces Questions Over Estimated Donation — Report

A report has questioned the estimated donation from Meghan Markle‘s latest charity venture. The news comes as the Sussexes remain under close public and expert scrutiny following their return to the UK. Amid their resettlement in Britain, the non-working royals have been making headlines over security concerns and strained relations with the rest of the royal family.

Meghan Markle’s recent charity donation is under fire over the speculated amount

Meghan Markle‘s latest donation to a girls’ charity is drawing criticsim for being worth significantly less than the outfit she wore to publicize the cause.

The Duchess of Sussex recently joined Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai for tea at Claridge’s in Mayfair. For the outing, she opted for a cream top with white palazzo trousers and an oversized camel coat. Markle completed the look with beige-and-brown pointed loafers and a dark Chanel bag. Reports place the total cost of her outfit at around £19,000 ($25,000), per the Daily Express.

However, the purpose behind the meet-up became clear only days later. The “Suits” alum took to her Instagram to unveil her lifestyle brand’s new partnership with the education activist.

In partnership with Archewell Philanthropies, As Ever pledged 100% of net proceeds from its jams and teas to Malala Fund for International Day of the Girl. The funds will support the organization’s work to ensure every girl has access to free, safe, quality education.

Daily Mail reporter Alison Boshoff has since estimated the potential financial boost the Duchess’ appearance could have provided to Malala Yousafzai’s fund. The columnist shared, “The answer seems to be a truly modest amount. Even a generous extrapolation from the only available data suggests that a day of tea and jam proceeds will add around £1,900 to the Malala Fund coffers. That wouldn’t even cover those arrestingly wide, white Ralph Lauren trousers Meghan wore to the Mayfair hotel.”

Boshoff further revealed, “Meghan’s trousers worn for tea with Malala cost $2,247 (£1,696) and her cashmere sweater $832 (£628) – a total of £2,324.”

However, sources close to Meghan Markle dismissed the figures as purely “speculative.” They added that her support itself holds value by inspiring others to give.
