At BFI Southbank in London on Thursday afternoon, the actor discussed several topics during a career-spanning conversation, with much of the discussion focusing on the series he enjoys. Amid the conversation, Andrew Scott praised Heated Rivalry while defending stories about the AIDS crisis.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott said, “I welcome things like Heartstopper and Heated Rivalry and Red, White, and Royal Blue and all those things that are joyful. I really, really, really do. And I think the fact that there’s lots of different types of gay drama, so to speak, on film [and] television is extraordinary.”

“It troubles me a little bit because I think people perhaps don’t want to go back to a time when you’re talking about the AIDS crisis, or you’re talking about [a time] when it was incredibly difficult for gay people. I think that sometimes comes from a place of shame. You go, ‘I don’t want to go back there. I don’t want to see that anymore.’ There’s something a little troubling about that for me, to say: ‘I don’t want to go and see something that was a difficult time,’” he added.

Talking about the troubling trend surrounding the series, the massive success of the popular Canadian novel-based TV series Heated Rivalry has sparked a troubling trend and debate in the entertainment industry. The discussion mainly revolves around two major issues: the troubling debate surrounding sexuality and the paradoxical anti-queer trend.

It is a popular drama, romance, and sports web series based on Rachel Reid’s novel Game Changers. Jacob Tierney directed Season 1, which premiered in 2025. The production team began filming Season 2 in August 2026, and the makers expect to release it in April 2027.
