The new budget for Fallout Season 3 has been revealed, and it’s hinting that bigger conflicts loom in the wasteland. This is because, according to the latest reports, the Prime Video series appears to be getting a major budget increase for recreating the wasteland and its inhabitants for the wildly popular post-apocalyptic RPG franchise.
According to California’s updated Film and Television Tax Credit Program approved projects list, Amazon has roughly allocated $166.3 million for the Fallout Season 3 budget, with a tax credit allocation of $42 million, per Collider. This inevitably signals that the show will feature even bigger battles ahead.
Doing the maths, it rounds up to about a 21% projected increase in costs from Season 2, easily cementing the series as Amazon’s most expensive project in the state. Previously, the series was given a production budget of over $150 million for bringing the wasteland and its inhabitants to life for the first run.
Fallout Season 2’s ending set the stage for a bigger wasteland war
Fallout Season 2 finale, The Strip, concludes with major faction shifts and conspiracies converging on New Vegas. First off, there’s Caesar’s Legion, which marched on New Vegas to claim the Strip, led by Macaulay Culkin’s character. Then there’s the New California Republic (NCR), which was positioned strategically around New Vegas to defend against the incoming Legion forces and regional threats.
Furthermore, the Enclave was revealed as the true puppet master behind the apocalypse and Vault-Tec. Hank MacLean and Stephanie act on their behalf to push Phase Two, which utilizes mind-control chips and West-Tek’s Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV).
Now, season 3 will feature quite a bit of big developments that the prior finale set up. This includes the reveal that the Brotherhood of Steel might control Liberty Prime Alpha after they acquired the blueprints for the superweapon. Not to mention, the Ghoul (played by Walton Goggins) will also be setting a course for Colorado to find his family. Meanwhile, the Enclave will officially prepare for Phase Two of its operations.
Prime Video has not announced an official release date for Fallout Season 3, though cast and production estimates point to a May or June 2027 premiere window.
