Prince William’s ‘Secret’ Diana Plan Could Outsmart Prince Harry — Expert

Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly taking very different approaches to honoring Princess Diana ahead of the 30th death anniversary on August 31, 2027. While Harry is said to be pursuing a documentary project, one royal expert believes William could end up taking a far more strategic route. The expert suggested William’s reported decision to stay behind the scenes may ultimately prove to be the smarter move.

Expert says Prince William’s ‘secret’ Diana tribute could be ‘incredibly shrewd’ as opposed to Prince Harry

According to The Royalist, Prince William has reportedly ruled out appearing in a documentary about Princess Diana. However, royal expert Tom Sykes believes that may not mean William is staying completely out of the project.

Sykes suggested that the Prince of Wales could quietly support a documentary without becoming its public face. “Could, for example, photographs or access to the family archive or access to the royal archives be provided?” he said. He added that such an approach would be “an incredibly shrewd play.”

The expert also speculated that William’s reported private meeting with BBC Director-General Tim Davie may have been connected to discussions about a future Diana tribute. Sykes stressed this was his own suspicion, saying negotiations could involve which broadcaster receives access to royal archives and Diana’s close friends.

He argued that staying behind the scenes would help William keep his previous promise not to make a documentary himself. “Don’t be the front man of it. It’s not appropriate, especially with your brother doing what he’s doing,” Sykes said.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is reportedly in talks with Netflix about a documentary marking Diana’s 30th death anniversary. Sykes claimed the project could even explain Harry’s decision to move back to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children.

“The Diana film explains it, doesn’t it?” Sykes said. He argued that filming in Britain would provide access to important locations linked to the late Princess, including London and Althorp, as well as people who knew her personally.

Sykes concluded that the period leading up to August 2027 will likely bring many potential flashpoints. During this time, both brothers will continue honoring their mother’s legacy in vastly different ways.
