Ed Sheeran’s Weekend at Robert Kraft’s Stadium Thrown Into Chaos

Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour continues to face uncertainty nearly two weeks after Macklemore was removed from the lineup following his pro-Palestinian comments. The singer is scheduled to perform at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, which is owned by Robert Kraft, on Sept. 25 and 26. Now, with a nor’easter approaching New England, the question is whether both shows will go ahead.

Ed Sheeran’s two Gillette Stadium concerts remain uncertain as a nor’easter approaches

Sources involved in the production told TMZ that stage construction was temporarily paused due to a massive nor’easter moving toward New England. Workers began assembling Sheeran’s stage on Sept. 24, but construction was paused later that day.

A nor’easter is expected to bring strong winds and rain beginning on the night of Sept. 25. The storm has raised concerns about safety at the open-air stadium and around the concert stage. A stadium representative said most preparations remain ongoing, while lighting is currently being tested. A final decision on the concerts has yet to be made. It is unclear whether organizers would reschedule the shows if they are canceled.

Some ticket holders are already seeking refunds. Attorney General Andrea Campbell is advocating on their behalf. She said, as stated by CBS News, “After hearing from nearly 200 consumers who were struggling to obtain refunds from Ticketmaster for Ed Sheeran’s shows at Gillette Stadium this weekend, my office jumped into action to demand that consumers be provided a clear path to get their money back if they no longer want to attend due to significant changes to the lineup.”

Campbell said she sent Ticketmaster a letter “demanding” that it make an exception to its policy. She argued that “unfair or deceptive acts and practices in commercial activities violate the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act.”

The controversy began when Macklemore, in an Instagram post on Sept. 14, claimed that Sheeran told him billionaire Robert Kraft had contacted him about his upcoming performance at Gillette Stadium. Macklemore said Kraft told him he would “not be allowed” to perform. After organizers dropped him from the lineup, Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe also announced his departure. Danish band Lukas Graham and Irish folk band Beoga later confirmed that they would no longer participate in the tour.
