Charles Spencer talks about Princess Diana’s reaction to her father’s secret marriage
Charles Spencer has dropped another bombshell claim, which states that Princess Diana once slapped their father, John Spencer.
In a chat with People Magazine, Charles was asked about his claim that Diana could at times become “physical.” He said he could think of only three such moments, the most prominent of which involved her and their father. Charles revealed, “One was slapping my father when he told her (Diana) he was marrying my stepmother [Raine Spencer] because that was a huge shock to us all.”
He called the incident a “bizarre” one because “it was so out of the blue.”
Charles also said they did not agree with John’s decision to marry their stepmother. He suggested that he and Diana felt they “had made our feelings really clear.” However, he stated that John “had to follow his heart.” The 9th Earl Spencer also said their father’s decision made them feel he was letting them down.
John and Raine Spencer got married on July 14, 1976, the second one for both of them.
Moreover, Charles disclosed that Diana once thought their stepmother, Raine, had been “unbelievably rude.” He shared that Raine had a habit of insulting Diana and even said, “She couldn’t believe that Prince Charles had married someone so stupid. So I think that was probably lighting the fuse.” Charles’ memoir has sent shockwaves among royal fans and the Palace after making claims about King Charles’ reaction to Diana’s death in 1997.
