After ending her 19-year marriage to Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman has reportedly put a ban on his music. The actress reportedly doesn’t want to hear songs that once held special meaning for the former couple.
Nicole Kidman issues ban on Keith Urban’s music at public events, claims source
Nicole and her former husband, who first met at a Los Angeles event in 2005 and married in 2006, had long been seen as a picture-perfect couple until reports of their separation came in September 2025. Their divorce was officially finalized in January 2026.
A source close to the Big Little Lies actress told New Idea, “She doesn’t want to be out in front of the cameras when someone plays one of his songs – especially one like Once In A Lifetime.” The source added, “Some of Keith’s songs are too painful to listen to for her, but also they’ve been played to death in the Urban household for years. There’s a level of ‘okay, new song please’, both in terms of what’s coming out of speakers but also who’s coming into her life.”
Nicole’s friends deny that the music ban stems from claims that she dislikes Keith’s songs. Her recent interview sparked the rumors. Nicole appeared on the Therapuss podcast with her Practical Magic co-star Sandra Bullock. During the episode, she seemingly took a playful jab at Keith’s music. Host Jake Shane asked the actresses what they would do if they secretly disliked their boyfriend’s music. Sandra said shared music taste was important. She then turned to Nicole and asked for her thoughts. Nicole replied, “You have the right to make any music you want,” and added, “Find something you like in it! Give him a compliment. Something! Give him a bone!” Her response quickly became a viral moment, with fans speculating that she was taking a dig at Keith’s music.
It has been a year since the former couple ended their marriage. While Oscar winner Nicole Kidman reportedly enjoyed a holiday with billionaire Michael Reinstein, Keith has stayed out of the dating spotlight. Nicole and Keith share two biological daughters, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban. Nicole also has two older children, Isabella and Connor, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
