Piers Morgan claims that Charles Spencer’s memoir about Princess Diana contains “fabricated inaccuracies” that could damage his credibility. The journalist shared his views on the new book, written by Diana’s younger brother, on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Monday. The book is titled “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.” He said that his lawyers would contact Spencer and the book’s publishers over what he called “demonstrable lies.”
Piers Morgan to reportedly take legal action against Charles Spencer’s claims about him in Princess Diana memoir
Piers Morgan will reportedly take legal action against Charles Spencer over what he claims are false statements about him in Spencer’s memoir about Princess Diana. Morgan has challenged several claims made by Spencer in the book.
The memoir reportedly states that Morgan and his Sunday Mirror colleagues took photographs of Diana with a hidden camera while she was working out in a leotard. Spencer described it as an “intolerable invasion of her privacy.” He also added that Diana instructed her lawyers to sue the Mirror Group and prevent any further use of the images.
Morgan strongly refuted the claims. He explained that when the gym pictures were taken, he was working as a showbiz columnist for the Mirror’s arch-rival. He also pointed out that the photographs were published by the Daily Mirror in 1993. However, he joined the newspaper two years later, making it clear that he had no involvement in their publication.
Morgan also challenged Spencer’s claim that he was among four tabloid editors who were “named, shamed, and photographed” for being responsible for the paparazzi treatment of Diana. He questioned not only the claims themselves but also Spencer’s credibility as a “historian.”
The broadcaster said he would take legal action against Spencer and his publishers “over demonstrable lies” he claims were written about him in the new book. Meanwhile, the X post divided the internet. Some people sided with Spencer, while others supported Morgan.
