According to a source, Meghan issued a four-word warning that appeared to dash Harry’s hopes of a festive reunion. The Sussexes were instead reportedly planning to return to their Montecito home in California for the holidays.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly had different expectations for Christmas, with the Duke of Sussex hoping to celebrate the holidays in the UK. Several reports suggested that King Charles might invite the Sussexes to the royal family’s Christmas gathering. However, a source told Heat World that Markle had a firm response to her husband’s plans: “I won’t be humiliated.”
Furthermore, the insider claimed that the Duchess’s reaction had allegedly “disappointed” Harry. The Duke had reportedly hoped to bring Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, to the Cotswolds for Christmas. He also seemingly wanted to “score an invite” from Charles or his uncle, Earl Spencer. “But Meghan wasn’t having any of it,” the source added.
“Harry did his best to persuade Meghan to stay and have a British Christmas, but Meghan wasn’t prepared to sit around being humiliated by the royals, waiting to see if they’d extend an invite,” the insider claimed. As a result, Markle reportedly booked a flight back to Montecito, leaving Harry with little choice but to follow her plans.
Earlier, another report suggested that Charles might “make room” for his younger son during the festive season. A source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice that the King and Queen Camilla had reportedly set a date to meet the Sussexes before Christmas.
However, the report suggested that Harry and his family might have a separate meeting with the royals rather than join the main family celebration. For context, the Sussexes returned to the UK in late August and have reportedly been staying in the Cotswolds.
