Miley Cyrus is reflecting on her relationship with Maxx Morando and her fears about whether either of them could get the ick after marriage.
Morando, however, already had an answer ready when Cyrus raised the possibility.
Miley Cyrus reveals how Maxx Morando’s advice about getting the “ick” was put to the test
Cyrus opened up about an unexpected aspect of her relationship with Morando while speaking with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
“We’ve been together six years, and I’ve never gotten the ick,” Cyrus said. “All of a sudden I got in my head, I was like, ‘Oh my God, we’re about to get married. What if I get the ick?'”
“I asked him, ‘What happens if you get the ick once you’re married?'” Cyrus recalled. The Grammy winner said Morando’s answer instantly put her mind at rest.
“He’s like, ‘You deal with it and you move on and you don’t be a baby. The ick is for when you’re in fifth grade,'” she said. However, it was not long before Cyrus said the theory was put to the test.
“He did something that icked me for a minute,” Cyrus said with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Don’t ever do that again. It gave me the ick.'”
Meanwhile, Morando had his own qualms about his fiancée. Cyrus said, “When you’re a brat,” which she agreed was accurate. “I’m so icky when I’m a brat,” she admitted.
Cyrus also emphasized that not being the “boss” in the relationship helps her relax.
“What I also love is I’m not totally the boss in our house,” she said. “It’s like a sense of relief that I can actually soften into.”
The singer also opened up about marriage and why she believes it can work. “I think that’s the thing that maybe generations prior didn’t teach us, that marriage doesn’t need to be a prison. It can actually be a playground.”
Cyrus and Morando have been linked since late 2021 and have largely kept their relationship private.
