Kristin Cavallari is returning to scripted acting with a romantic comedy. The Laguna Beach alum will lead a Roku movie alongside Tanner Novlan. It marks her first feature-film lead in 17 years and brings her back to Roku after The Reunion: Laguna Beach.
Kristin Cavallari will star in Roku’s Cowboy Hearts, her first feature-film lead in 17 years
Cavallari will play a reality TV producer in “Cowboy Hearts,” which Roku plans to release in early 2027. Her character travels to Georgia to manage the return of the popular dating show “Cowboy Hearts.” She expects problems at work but does not anticipate developing feelings for the cowboy leading the show, played by Novlan. As filming begins and her career hangs in the balance, she must decide whether she is willing to put love before her plans.
Roku executive Brian Tannenbaum praised Cavallari in a statement. “After the success of ‘The Reunion: Laguna Beach,’ we knew we weren’t done working with Kristin,” he said. Tannenbaum said the casting was “too good to resist” and that Cavallari and Novlan worked well together. “The movie is a blast,” he added, saying Roku cannot wait for audiences to see it next year.
Cavallari also shared her excitement about the project. “I’m so excited to be stepping back into acting and getting to do something completely different with a rom-com!” she said. She added that working with Roku again feels special after “The Reunion: Laguna Beach” and said she “can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
Cavallari rose to fame on MTV’s Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and The Hills. She later starred in E!’s Very Cavallari and Honestly Cavallari. She hosts “Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari” through Dear Media.
Her return to a feature-film lead marks another acting project for Cavallari after years of working in reality television and podcasting. Cowboy Hearts is expected to arrive on Roku in 2027.
