Layla Taylor addresses her fractured relationship with Taylor Frankie Paul
Layla spoke to People ahead of the Season 5 premiere and explained where she stood in her relationship with Paul. She said that Paul’s conflicts with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen have affected their friendship.
“I’ll let my other castmates speak for their relationship with her, but I think for me and Taylor there’s not really a friendship there right now,” Layla said. “But I wish her well, and I hope that life works out. But for me, personally, with her, yeah, no friendship there.”
Paul and Mortensen have been involved in an ongoing legal and custody battle after making mutual allegations of domestic violence. Layla has publicly condemned domestic violence. She wrote in a social media post, “My personal history as a survivor makes it impossible for me to stay silent. I stand firmly against domestic violence in any form. I am keeping her children in my thoughts, hoping for their safety above all else.”
According to People, the conflict also spilled into production. Multiple sources told the outlet that several cast members refused to work with Paul, contributing to Season 5 being shortened to five episodes instead of the originally planned run.
Despite the conflict, both Paul and Mortensen appear in the new season. Producer Jeff Jenkins also said that the pair were welcome back on the show.
Additionally, Layla spoke about how her approach had changed since the first season of the show. She has moved away from spending hours in social media comment sections and now prioritizes her family. “People are going to feel a certain way about you regardless of how you act,” she said.
While some MomTok friendships may not have survived, Layla has found a way to stay away from social media. She now prefers to spend launch days with her children, away from the online noise.
