As reported by New Idea, the Sussexes’ spokesperson claimed that not receiving any notification about the letter in advance made them feel “surprised.”
Per the magazine, a source told them that a royal tiff is the “last thing” that anybody wanted to break out on Prince George’s first day at Eton College. Prince William and Kate Middleton allegedly tried their best to keep their eldest son “oblivious to it.”
The insider claimed to the publication that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reaction to King Charles’ letter sparked the spat. According to the insider, something done by the Sussexes to “overshadow” Kate Middleton and Prince William’s plans is no longer beyond the Princess of Wales’ expectations. The source explained that the Sussexes’ reaction to the letter “turned a basic clarification into another display of ‘hurt feelings.'”
The source further told that Kate Middleton feels “embarrassed for [Harry and Meghan], but she and William feel like a weight’s been lifted after the King’s statement.” The Prince and Princess of Wales had reportedly been feeling “agitated” about the entire situation. The future King and Queen allegedly don’t want to think about the Sussexes “stealing headlines” on Prince George’s significant day. This is allegedly what Prince William had warned everyone about all along.
