Prince Harry has received a new development for his Invictus Games ahead of the 2027 event. Fiji has joined the wider Invictus Community of Nations as preparations continue for the Games in Birmingham. The move expands the international community surrounding the initiative Harry helped establish in 2014.
Prince Harry’s Invictus Games welcomes Fiji as part of the “Invictus Community of Nations”
Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 welcomed Fiji into the “Invictus Community of Nations” in an announcement on X.
The addition gives the movement another international connection as preparations for Birmingham continue. The 2027 Games will bring together wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world, with competitors set to take part across 12 adaptive sports. The event will run from July 10 through July 17.
The Fiji announcement comes after several recent developments surrounding Harry’s signature project.
Questions recently surfaced over a reported Amazon sponsorship. A report claimed the company would provide major financial backing, but neither Amazon nor Invictus had confirmed the deal as of October 23.
Before that, Uganda briefly withdrew from Birmingham 2027 after Buckingham Palace clarified Harry and Meghan Markle’s status as non-working royals.
King Charles’ team then became involved in the situation. Uganda reversed course after the monarch’s principal private secretary encouraged its military leadership to continue preparations. The intervention put Charles directly into Harry’s Invictus situation.
That episode raised questions about how the Games intersect with Harry’s position within the royal family. Uganda ultimately returned to the event, allowing preparations for its participation to continue.
Fiji’s addition now brings attention back to the Invictus movement’s international community. Birmingham 2027 will mark the eighth Invictus Games and the second edition held in the U.K. The first Games took place in London in 2014.
The Invictus Games Foundation says membership in the Invictus Community of Nations does not automatically guarantee a team’s participation in the Games. Still, Fiji’s addition expands the community surrounding the Games as Birmingham prepares to host the event in July 2027.
