Prince Harry ‘Turned Himself Into a Victim’ Amid King Charles Letter Drama — Expert

King Charles and Prince Harry‘s relationship is back in the spotlight. Royal expert Hugo Vickers recently weighed in on the Duke of Sussex’s response to a letter from the monarch that reinforced the terms of Megxit. This commentary sheds light on how the palace’s wording has reignited old tensions.

Expert responds to Prince Harry’s alleged objection to King Charles’ letter

The controversy stems from Prince Harry reportedly being caught unaware of King Charles’ recent letter of guidance. The letter reaffirmed that the 2020 Megxit agreement remains unchanged and states that the Duke and Duchess remain non-working royals.

Speaking to The Sun, royal expert Hugo Vickers described Harry’s response to the situation in blunt terms. “Harry’s entire public stance has become whining about his lot in life,” he said. “He has turned himself into a victim, which is a very strange contradiction.”

The expert suggested the couple’s recent return to the UK may reflect a desire to inch closer to roles resembling those of working royals, with expectations that they could become more visible through charity work and public engagements. This comes despite the pair previously being told they could not function as “half-in-half-out” royals. Many believe this is a guideline they are sidestepping.

Vickers pointed to what he sees as a pattern of contradiction in the couple’s choices. “Everything is contradictory,” he said. Referring to Meghan Markle, he noted, “What she regularly and successfully does is continually reinvent herself, which is why people discuss every new move she makes.” He added that “there is always something in the pipeline,” even when previous efforts may not have panned out.

He also noted that just being back on British soil changes public perception of the couple. “By coming back to England, they naturally reinforce their identity as members of the royal family, whether working or not,” Vickers explained. “If you want to be a private citizen, be a private citizen. If you want to be a public figure, you have to take the rough with the smooth.”

The remarks underscore how closely the Sussexes’ movements continue to be scrutinized. Each public appearance signals their evolving relationship with the monarchy.
