Fauda creator Avi Issacharoff has spoken out against Mark Ruffalo, who is facing accusations of antisemitism. The MCU star recently condemned the proposed Paramount-Warner Bros. merger, citing Oracle’s ties to the Israeli military and describing the situation in Gaza as a genocide.
Fauda creator Avi Issacharoff has slammed Mark Ruffalo over his controversial ‘genocide’ remarks
Issacharoff spoke about the matter during a London panel, as reported by Variety. The 53-year-old Middle East analyst said, “Mark Ruffalo saying ‘Genocide, genocide.’ Then you know that there’s a kind of people [who] are ignorant, and there are some people [who] are stupid. He’s a rare combination of those two.”
“I’m sorry to say that,” the producer, who is also a journalist, added. He further stated, “Do you understand what it means ‘genocide’? Do you, as a lead actor in Hollywood, understand that when Israel allows everyday 600 trucks of food and supplies to go into Gaza, they are not intending or planning to kill the people of Palestine? Do you understand [that] more people were born during the war in Gaza than died, so no one was trying to eliminate those people, and the only ones who were trying to commit genocide were Hamas people? And that guy and many other people don’t get it.”
The controversy began on August 21, after Ruffalo voiced his concerns in an Instagram post. The Oscar-nominated actor questioned whether the proposed takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery had any connection to Israel’s war in Gaza. Ruffalo called the war in Gaza a “genocide” and took aim at Safra Catz, Oracle’s executive vice chair and a Paramount board member. A previous report by the outlet stated that he criticized her remarks about the “profoundly scary technologies” Oracle provided to the Israeli government for use in Gaza. The actor further accused the Israeli military of operating under “an apartheid system of oppression powered by Oracle.” Paramount responded by calling Ruffalo’s post “antisemitic.”
