Donald Trump’s MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement has sparked mixed reactions nationwide, with some people supporting it while others oppose it. Amid this divide, Dennis Quaid, known for his charismatic leading-man roles, has shown his support for the movement, putting the actor at the center of a boycott push.
Dennis Quaid’s political views triggered fresh boycott calls following his Fox News appearance
The Hollywood actor recently appeared on Jesse Watters’ program on Tuesday, September 1, where Dennis Quaid discussed universal healthcare with the host and expressed his full support for Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.
During his Fox News appearance, Quaid said, “Screen Actors Guild actors have the best health insurance in the world. Bar none. And do you know who got them that health insurance? It was Ronald Reagan who came out of retirement [as president of SAG] ten years later and got those actors the greatest health care they could possibly have.”
“Well, now no one is happy because they say they don’t like their health care and they want Medicare For All,” the actor added.
Dennis Quaid’s support for Donald Trump’s MAGA movement did not sit well with the public, prompting people on X to start a boycott trend against the actor.
One user wrote, “He’s an actor. He got lucky ?,” another added, “Dennis Quaid proving he’s stupider than anyone ever gave him credit for being.”
One of the users simply demanded, “Boycott Quaid ✅✅✅✅,” another followed, “I 100% boycott his movies. Sorry, Hollywood, but I’m not spending a dime of my money or a minute of my time on Dennis Quaid.”
“No need to boycott Dennis Quaid’s movies because they all suck….,” one of the X users said sarcastically
For context, this was not the first time Dennis Quaid has shown his support for President Donald Trump because of the MAGA movement.
The 72-year-old actor had previously supported the U.S. president, including in 2024, when he publicly announced his support for Trump for the first time and said he would vote for a member of the Republican Party in the upcoming election.
