Meghan Markle‘s rumored casting consideration for the Netflix series The Gentlemen has received a playful response from the show’s lead star, Theo James. The actor was asked directly about the possibility of the Duchess of Sussex appearing in Season 3. He responded with a reference to Prince Harry before addressing the casting claims.
Theo James on if Meghan Markle has been cast in The Gentlemen Season 3
Theo James has weighed in on reports that Meghan Markle could join The Gentlemen for its third season. The actor was asked by Deadline whether the Duchess of Sussex had been cast in the Netflix crime series and responded with a joke, saying “Prince Harry?” before indicating that Markle’s involvement was unlikely.
“I think that’s unlikely,” James said. He also stressed that the third season is still at an early stage, explaining, “In reality, we haven’t even started Season 3. I want to concentrate on Season 2 – the thing that’s coming out right now. Season 3 will start to build, but we’ve still got a lot of building to do.”
The comments come after James previously played down speculation about Markle joining the show. During an interview with Town & Country, he was asked about “a certain ex-royal” appearing in The Gentlemen. James called the rumor “mainly a lot of hot air.”
However, he acknowledged that plans for the next season had not been finalized, adding, “In terms of the minutiae, I mean, it’s still very much up in the air.”
The casting speculation began after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced plans to return to the UK. Soon afterward, reports emerged that Markle was in talks for a role in a high-profile British television production. A previous Deadline scoop identified The Gentlemen as the series linked to the discussions.
However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the rumors.
