Richard Gere turned 77 on August 31. His wife, Alejandra Silva Gere, marked the occasion with a loving family tribute and gave fans a glimpse of how the actor spent his special day.
Silva (43) posted several photos on Instagram on September 1. One photo showed her and Gere wearing party hats while their 6-year-old son James ran toward them. Another captured James joining his parents in a group hug, while a third showed Silva sitting beside two dogs.
Sharing them, she wrote, “No one I rather spend my life with, happy birthday, I love you, we love you.” Gere later reshared the post on his Instagram Stories with a jazz version of “Happy Birthday” playing in the background. He added, “I love you.”
Gere and Silva also have a 7-year-old son, Alexander. Gere shares a 26-year-old son, Homer with his second wife, Carey Lowell, while Silva has a 13-year-old son, Albert, from her previous marriage.

The Pretty Woman actor has stayed active on television and in films. He recently returned as London station chief Bosko in Season 2 of The Agency. All 10 episodes premiered on Paramount+ on June 21, 2026. Before that, Gere appeared in the films Longing and Oh, Canada. Both released in 2024.
His next projects include Asymmetry, an adaptation of Lisa Halliday’s novel directed by Edward Zwick. Gere plays Ezra, a 70-year-old famous author who develops a relationship with young editorial assistant Alice, played by Diana Silvers. The movie was filming in New York in July and August 2026.
Gere is also a part of Left Seat, an airplane thriller starring Michelle Rodriguez and directed by Ben Younger. The film follows a pharmaceutical representative who must take control of a small plane after its pilot becomes unconscious. In it, Gere plays a stranger who helps her through radio communication.
On television, Gere has joined Apple TV+’s upcoming limited series The Off Weeks. He will appear alongside Jessica Chastain, Ben Stiller, Arian Moayed and Annaleigh Ashford in the eight-episode drama. Gere plays Jonathan in the series, which follows a writing professor dealing with major changes after his divorce.
