The renewal also confirms the return of one of the show’s key stars.

Sky’s Under Salt Marsh renewed for Season 2

Sky has renewed Under Salt Marsh for a second season, bringing back Rafe Spall as Detective Eric Bull, as reported by Variety.

The six-episode season will move the crime drama to Scotland, where Bull will investigate a murder in a remote mining village. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027, while the second season remains without an official title. According to a synopsis, Detective Bull “moves to a remote Scottish mining village sinking under the weight of its own secrets, where a murder investigation brings him closer to the truth about his own past.”

The change in location also marks a significant shift from Season 1. Under Salt Marsh premiered in January 2026 and was filmed in Wales, with the story taking place in Morfa Halen, a fictional coastal town in North Wales created for the series. Kelly Reilly was at the center of the first season, but she is not expected to return for the second season. Reilly could instead appear in Dutton Ranch, a Yellowstone spinoff connected to her future projects.

Claire Oakley created Under Salt Marsh and serves as the series’ writer and director. The show is produced by Little Door Productions in association with Sky Studios. The first season became one of Sky’s biggest original drama launches following its January 2026 debut.

Under Salt Marsh Season 2 will be released on Sky and the streaming service Now in the U.K., Ireland and Italy. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution is handling international sales for the crime drama.
