Niv Sultan’s hit medical thriller just locked in its future, and global audiences are next in line. The Apple TV’s Tehran star’s latest series scored a Season 2 renewal after dominating Israeli ratings, with international sales now launching at MIPCOM.
Niv Sultan’s Heart of a Killer renewed for Season 2
Niv Sultan’s medical thriller Heart of a Killer has secured a second season order, Variety reported. The show’s seven-episode first season became one of the most-watched series on Israeli platform Hot. Federation International is launching global sales for Season 1 this week at MIPCOM.
Heart of a Killer is the second co-production from Shari Redstone’s Sipur Studios and The North Road Company. The two companies previously collaborated on the Netflix hit Bad Boy. Liad Shoham, Gal Zaid, and Roni Yaddor created the series. Endemol Shine Israel produced it, and Evgeny Ruman directed.
Sultan plays Dr. Dasi Nakash, a promising transplant surgeon who commits a desperate act to save a friend. She then faces moral dilemmas, shadowy patient rescues, and conflicts within the medical establishment. The series also features a handsome Dr. Adam Kessler who aids her journey.
Executive producers include Amir Ganor for Endemol Shine and Amy Israel for North Road. Emilio Schenker and Gideon Tadmor serve as exec producers for Sipur. Ori Gal, Dana Mendlinger and Mirit Toovi executive produce for Hot.
Federation International’s co-head of international sales, Monica Levy, expressed excitement about the project. “It’s a bold, high-stakes thriller with a remarkable lead, Niv Sultan, who you will recognize from Tehran and its ongoing success on Hot shows just how powerfully it connects with audiences,” Levy said. “We can’t wait to share it with buyers at MIPCOM.”
Sipur CEO Emilio Schenker also commented on the renewal. “After an incredible launch in Israel, where Heart of a Killer became one of Hot’s most-watched series in recent years, we’re thrilled to bring this gripping story to new audiences around the world and begin work on its second season,” Schenker said.
