Sons of Anarchy Stars Reunite in New TV Show, But Not How Fans Expected

The Sons of Anarchy cast is reuniting for a new TV show, but they won’t return as their original characters. Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, and Ron Perlman are among the stars featured in FX’s upcoming Legends.

The limited meta-thriller series brings the original star cast together at a fan convention. However, the event takes a dangerous turn as they soon face a real-world threat.

As reported by Variety, the cast also includes Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Theo Rossi. The actors’ reunion marks a new collaboration more than a decade after the original series ended.

The Sons of Anarchy cast plays versions of themselves in Legends

Legends will see the stars playing fictionalized versions of themselves. It follows the cast as they reunite at a convention celebrating their former show. The story then blurs the boundary between their television personas and real lives.

The official logline states, “When the cast of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ reunites at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show.”

Hunnam developed the spinoff series with Jonathan Groff. They executive produce alongside Rob Mac, Nicholas Frenkel, and Jackie Cohn.

FX Entertainment president Nick Grad praised Hunnam’s idea and described it as “a love letter to the series and a fun meta twist on what fans think they know.”

FX Productions and 20th Television will produce Legends. A release date has not been announced yet.

Created by Kurt Sutter, Sons of Anarchy premiered in 2008 and ran for seven seasons. The biker drama became one of FX’s early major scripted hits.

Meanwhile, Hunnam recently earned his first Emmy nomination for Monster: The Ed Gein Story. His other credits include The Gentlemen, Pacific Rim, and Shantaram.
