MCU Stars Christopher Abbott & Florence Pugh’s New TV Show Finally Sets Release Date

MCU stars Christopher Abbott and Florence Pugh’s new TV show has an official release date. Also starring Joseph Zada and Ciaran Hinds, the drama is finally making it to the audience four years after its announcement.

East of Eden is set to release on October 1, 2026, exclusively on Netflix. Adapted from John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel, the story centers on the Trask family across multiple generations, with a renewed focus on one of its most complicated characters. It features an ensemble cast led by two high-profile Marvel Cinematic Universe actors. Florence Pugh also serves as an executive producer for the show, among others. The supporting cast includes Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders.

Netflix earlier confirmed that East of Eden will be a limited series with seven episodes. Writer Zoe Kazan also serves as co-showrunner alongside Jeb Stuart. Garth Davis, who is one of the many executive producers for the show, directed the first three episodes. Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre directed the last three episodes.

Jeb Stuart, Antoine Douaihy, Zack Hayden, and Jill Arthu also serve as executive producers for East of Eden. Fifth Season and Anonymous Content produced the series, which was filmed across multiple locations in New Zealand.

Who do Christopher Abbott and Florence Pugh play in the MCU?

Florence Pugh made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Yelena Belova in 2021’s Black Widow movie. Yelena is a highly trained Black Widow assassin and adopted sister of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). She later appeared in the Disney+ series Hawkeye (2021), Thunderbolts* (2025), and recently appeared in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Pugh is also coming to Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theaters this December. In East of Eden, Pugh takes on the antihero role of Cathy Ames.

Christopher Abbott recently made headlines after being cast as Professor X/Charles Xavier in the MCU. He will appear in the untitled X-Men reboot film in 2028, which also stars Sadie Sink and Kit Connor. Abbot plays the telepathic leader and founder of the mutants in the upcoming film. In East of Eden, he portrays Adam Trask, the protagonist in the novel.
