Hayden Panettiere Toxicology Tests Begin

Hayden Panettiere’s family is now waiting for the next step after the actress’ remains became available for release. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said that it notified her parents. The family has not yet chosen a funeral home. Until then, the coroner’s office will keep her remains.

Hayden Panettiere passed away unexpectedly at 36

The coroner finished Panettiere’s autopsy on Monday and did not find any evidence of trauma. However, officials have not determined her cause or manner of death. As part of the investigation, the office has begun toxicology testing. According to TMZ, the tests will involve checking for alcohol, medications, and illicit and non-illicit drugs.

According to a coroner’s office representative, the results of toxicology typically take about 8 to 12 weeks. The family can receive Panettiere’s remains after choosing a funeral home. Officials will then officially release her remains to the family. Authorities have not confirmed that a drug overdose caused her death.

Panettiere died Sunday after a friend found her unresponsive inside a Greenville, South Carolina, apartment. The friend called 911 and reported an “unresponsive female” in “cardiac arrest,” according to police. First responders performed CPR and tried advanced cardiac life support. Panettiere died at the scene at age 36.

Dispatch audio obtained by TMZ also indicated a possible overdose. Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, was found inside the apartment, according to the outlet. However, these details do not establish Panettiere’s official cause of death. The coroner will need to complete the toxicology process before officials can reach a conclusion.

Panettiere’s death remains under investigation, while authorities have reported no signs of trauma or foul play. Her family and fans now await answers about what happened.
