Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly seeking common ground to protect their marriage, as the Duke seeks to repair his relationship with King Charles and the rest of the royal family.
According to royal insiders speaking to Closer, the Sussexes are at odds over Harry’s increasing wish to spend more time in the UK. Markle has no plans to give up their life in California, where the pair are raising their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Sources are claiming that Prince Harry is hoping for a compromise that would allow him to return to the UK more often, possibly resuming some part-time royal duties. While he hopes that his wife would come too, Markle is unwilling to return, even briefly, due to what she sees as continued hostility.
“Harry and Meghan are ‘figuring out an agreement’ where Meghan accompanies him when it suits her,” noted the insider. “She’s very independent, so she’s leaving it up to Harry to navigate it, but the feeling is it’s very much a make-or-break situation.”
As reported by The News International, the matter has put pressure on their marriage as they try to find common ground. These latest reports follow a reunion in Britain last month between the Sussex family and King Charles.
Presenting an opportunity to mend strained relations, the King has also invited the couple to spend the summer at Balmoral with other members of the royal family. Although ties between the monarch and his youngest son are reportedly healing, friction with the rest of the royals, including Prince William, remains.
