Prince George allegedly has a very “normal” nickname behind the scenes despite being second in line to the throne. A source has recently revealed the ordinary nickname the 13-year-old’s friends have given him. They further said that relatives and close friends also use the moniker for the young prince.
Source reveals the nickname Prince George’s classmates gave him
In an October 18 report, RadarOnline.com revealed that Prince George has the ordinary nickname “P.G.,” which is a reference to a popular British tea brand. Allegedly, his classmates at Thomas’s Battersea School in London gave him the nickname.
A source said, “The nickname originated among George’s classmates and became part of his everyday life despite his extraordinary position within the monarchy. It is a reference to how his parents are trying to keep him ‘normal’ and give him normal food and drink as they strive to keep his feet on the ground.”
Insiders explained that his classmates initially called him “P.G.,” a shortened version of his name, before changing it to “P.G. Tips.” The latter refers to the tea brand. Besides his friends, relatives at Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall also allegedly use the moniker to address George.
“George has always been encouraged to see himself as just another boy when he’s at school, and that seems to have helped him develop a really strong circle of friends,” the source added. “He’s naturally sociable, gets along well with other children, and doesn’t appear to expect any special treatment because of his position.”
“The people around him are far more interested in having fun with him than worrying about the fact that he will one day be king. What’s particularly refreshing is how little importance his friends attach to his royal background.” The source explained that George’s classmates treat him like they would any other classmate with whom they shared experiences and tease occassionally.
