Téa Leoni & Tim Daly Have a Hilarious Answer About Newlyweds Sex Scenes

Téa Leoni and Tim Daly recently shared a humorous take on filming romantic scenes for their upcoming NBC comedy series, Newlyweds. The actors, who are married in real life, will play a married couple in the series.

Téa Leoni and Tim Daly don’t need an intimacy coordinator for Newlyweds

Téa Leoni and Tim Daly recently revealed one of the key benefits of being married in real life while playing a married couple in Newlyweds.

“One, we don’t need an intimacy coordinator because we are licensed to do whatever we want,” Daly said about the benefits during NBCUniversal’s recent Backlot Pass event. The remark came as the pair discussed their experiences working together on the new series. The casting reunites Leoni and Daly after their six-year run on Madam Secretary, in which they also played a married couple. The pair wanted to work together again, but this time chose a comedy rather than another drama.

“We were kind of sniffing around to play together again. We had a lot of fun on Madam Secretary. The world got darker, and we wanted to get lighter,” Leoni said. She added that they enjoyed working in that format and wanted the opportunity to spend more time together.

Daly noted the difference between their previous television roles and their current situation. “We spent six years pretending to be married on TV, and I would get to do it again, but we actually are married,” he said. He also described working with Leoni again as “really fun” and said they still enjoy each other’s company.

The pair also noted that they can often anticipate each other’s reactions while performing. “I was looking at James, aka Tim, and I can read him; I know where he’s going. It’s really fun to act with someone that you know so well because we are a little ahead with each other,” Leoni said.

Newlyweds is scheduled to premiere on NBC on October 23, 2026.
