Netflix has released the final trailer for Outer Banks Season 5, giving its fans one last look at the Pogues before the drama series wraps up. The upcoming “P4L” season puts the group through their toughest fight yet, and the trailer explains this final chapter is less about buried treasure and more about settling the score.
The Outer Banks trailer shows motorcycle chases, storms at sea, and boat explosions as the group closes in on Groff and the stolen Blue Crown. One of the earlier trailers also showed Kiara, still grieving JJ, had been digging into the legend surrounding the crown, which supposedly could bring back the dead.
The synopsis reads, “Season 5 finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ (Rudy Pankow) in Morocco. Stranded far from home and mourning the heart of their crew, they’ve lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a gauntlet of familiar threats.”

Where Outer Banks Season 4 leaves the Pogues
Season 4 ended with one of the most heartbreaking moments in the show’s history. During the mission in Morocco, Chandler Groff betrayed the Pogues and fatally stabbed JJ in exchange for Kiara’s life before escaping with Blue Crown. JJ passed away in Kiara’s arms as everyone in the group watched helplessly. By the end, the Pogues had lost one of their closest friends and the treasure they fought so hard to find.
The Pogues are now in a desperate race to reclaim their future and finally win the freedom they’ve always been pursuing. Now, It’s them versus the world as they set out to avenge their best friend and bring it on home one final time.
The final season sees the returning cast of Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane, and Cullen Moss.
All ten episodes of Outer Banks Season 5 will exclusively land on Netflix on August 20, 2026.
