Prince Harry has drawn criticism for describing himself as the “Prince of England” in a podcast appearance, a designation that does not exist.
According to RadarOnline.com, the Duke of Sussex’s remark has also sparked claims he’s growing increasingly distant from his royal roots. Harry made the comment on Joe Marler’s podcast in a laid-back, tongue-in-cheek conversation with the former England rugby international. When Marler questioned him about his occupation, Harry said he was a “full-time dad,” a “British Army veteran,” and “Prince of England,” and also cited his status as a “Duke.”
The comments quickly gained traction, as no such title exists within the UK’s constitutional structure. The Crown issues royal titles in connection with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Born Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and now officially the Duke of Sussex, Harry does not hold a title that includes “England.”
“The phrase Harry used is not just informal – it is entirely inaccurate in a constitutional sense, and that is why it has raised eyebrows among those who follow these distinctions closely,” a source versed in royal protocol said.
