Several people slammed Prince Harry for making the Invictus Games announcement when Princess Anne is on a South Korea tour. He revealed that the competition for wounded, injured, and sick military personnel and veterans will take place in Daejeon, South Korea, in 2029. This makes it the first host nation in Asia.
He said in the statement, “As the first Asian nation selected to host the Games, the Republic of Korea represents an exciting new chapter in our journey to ensure that more wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans can benefit from the power of sport and the strength of the Invictus community.”
Harry strongly believes that hosting the Games in the Asian nation could help increase understanding and support for the military community across the continent. He also stated that it would raise awareness about the significant contribution this sport makes in supporting the rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term well-being of participants (via Daily Express).

Some mentioned that Harry might have been aware of the Invictus Games 2029 hosting nation long before, but he chose to drop the news during Anne’s visit to grab attention. The Invictus Games 2029 will take place on October 6-15, bringing in 550 competitors from 26 nations. Meanwhile, in 2027, Birmingham will host the Games.
