A new book claims Donald Trump confronted Jeff Bezos about what he viewed as unfair coverage from The Washington Post
A new book by New York Times journalists, Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, claims POTUS yelled at the businessman. Reportedly, Trump organised a Mar-a-Lago dinner for billionaires who went all out in his favour.
According to the authors, Trump had an issue with the billionaire regarding The Washington Post. The president allegedly told him, “Really unfair. You’ve got to take better care.”
Bezos told Trump, It’s impossible to sway journalists, saying, “They don’t listen. My other companies, they listen.”
The book claimed that Bezos responded that the newspaper leaders were not listening to him regarding the publication. Trump was not happy with the newspaper’s coverage of him during the campaign.
Bezos and Trump were reportedly frustrated with The Washington Post for different reasons, but found common ground for the complaints. Authors reportedly added, “Bezos commiserated with Trump over their December dinner, indicating that he, too, was deeply frustrated with the Post, though for a different reason.”
According to reports, the dinner came after the Post endorsed Kamala Harris in the presidential race.
Other billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg, were present during the dinner. Bezos has maintained his relationship with Trump; he backed Melania Trump’s documentary on Amazon. Bezos dismissed this move as part of staying on Trump’s good side.
While the book claimed Trump’s frustration over The Washington Post, neither POTUS nor Bezos made any public comment to address the alleged claims.
