Sabrina Carpenter reportedly got restraining order against alleged stalker
Sabrina Carpenter reportedly secured a restraining order against her alleged stalker, William Applegate. As per Rolling Stone, a Los Angeles judge granted the 27-year-old singer a temporary restraining order against Applegate after she described a series of horrific incidents that left her in “significant and ongoing fear” for her personal safety.
Carpenter alleged that Applegate appeared at her home uninvited on multiple occasions in recent weeks. Not only that, he tried to break into her house and refused to leave when confronted by her security. He claimed he knew the “Espresso” crooner and was expected there. In fact, during a “deeply alarming” incident on May 23, Applegate created a ruckus outside the singer’s home. He even refused to leave until the police arrived and arrested him.
Carpenter wrote in her statement, “[Applegate] fabricated the outrageous and entirely false claim that he personally knew me and that I was expecting him. This was a complete lie.” She continued, “His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I am in fear of what he may do if he is not restrained by this court.”
Carpenter alleged that Applegate returned outside her home on May 25, “conducting what can only be described as deliberate surveillance of my movements and my home.”
Carpenter submitted camera footage as evidence against Applegate. Additionally, she requested a restraining order to protect herself and her older sister. On Friday, a Los Angeles judge granted the request. The judge also ordered Applegate to stay at least 100 yards from Carpenter and her surroundings.
Notably, a follow-up court hearing is set for June 17. The following day, Applegate is expected to appear in criminal court on a trespassing charge.
