Sabrina Carpenter is taking legal action after a series of unsettling incidents at her Los Angeles home. The singer and actress has been granted temporary protection after alleging that a stranger repeatedly appeared at her property and attempted to gain access.
The situation reportedly escalated over several days, prompting multiple police responses and a request for a restraining order.
Sabrina Carpenter is requesting a restraining order after William Applegate allegedly tried to break into her home
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Carpenter filed for a restraining order against a 31-year-old man identified as William Applegate. The filing includes images captured by her Ring doorbell camera that allegedly show him outside her residence.
In a declaration submitted to the court, Sabrina stated that Applegate arrived at her home on May 23 without invitation or permission. “It is clear to me that his approach was deliberate, calculated and aggressive, which is deeply alarming,” she wrote in the filing.
The singer alleged that Applegate trespassed onto a neighboring property to bypass security measures before approaching her front door. According to the documents, he allegedly attempted to open the door, knocked repeatedly, and rang the doorbell.
Carpenter said members of her security team confronted him, but he allegedly refused to leave and claimed he knew her personally. She further alleged that police eventually responded and arrested him.
What reportedly alarmed Carpenter most was what happened next.
According to the filing, Applegate allegedly returned to the property less than 24 hours later and then appeared again the following day, resulting in another police response. Carpenter claimed her security team later discovered behavior suggesting he had been attempting to track her movements since at least April.
“William Applegate is a complete stranger to me,” Carpenter wrote in her declaration. “I have never met him or communicated with him in any way.”
The “Man’s Best Friend” singer also requested protection for her sister Sarah, and Sarah’s boyfriend, George, citing concerns for their safety.
A judge granted a temporary restraining order requiring Applegate to stay away from all three individuals while the matter proceeds through court. The hearing later this month will determine whether the temporary order becomes permanent.
