A powerful MCU superhero may retire for an extended period of time after Avengers: Secret Wars. A reliable insider has suggested a major change in a character’s arc, as the hero is expected to endure significant challenges in Avengers: Doomsday.
Which MCU hero may be retiring after Avengers: Secret Wars?
Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus believes that Bob Reynolds/Sentry, last seen in Thunderbolts*, may retire after Avengers: Secret Wars. During a recent Q&A session, the insider was asked about the character’s future after Secret Wars.
In his response, Perez said, “Bob, I think might disappear for a while after Avengers: Secret Wars. Like, no cap, guy really might wanna just retire from it all after the hell they put him through. And that’s just in Doomsday alone.”
While the scooper has a solid track record with his reports, fans should still take everything with a grain of salt.
As for Sentry, he made his MCU debut in last year’s Thunderbolts* (New Avengers). Played by Lewis Pullman, he was seen turning into the Void and wreaking havoc on New York City during the climax. However, the Thunderbolts eventually managed to free themselves from the Void.
Previously, there were concerns among fans regarding Sentry’s role and overall impact in the upcoming Avengers movies, especially Doomsday. Pullman later clarified that his character will get ample time on the screen. “It’s going back to the serum of the human archetypes that our art is built off of. Every character has their moment that builds the dimensions of them. The Russo brothers did that so well. They do not want anyone just sitting in the background.”
He added, “They really took to heart the responsibility of having some of the best actors in the world all together. There’s a lot of really exciting pair-ups that happen. A lot of fans will be really excited. It’s so fun to dream about.”
Speaking further of Avengers: Secret Wars, it will also feature several other Thunderbolts* members, including Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.
Robert Downey Jr. will play the main villain, Victor von Doom. Other expected cast members include Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and more.
Avengers: Secret Wars will release in theaters on December 17, 2027.
