Joy Behar is taking off for Europe, and “The View” had to scramble a little to cover her seat during her hiatus. The 83-year-old co-host told listeners of the show’s Behind the Table podcast on Tuesday that she will miss multiple episodes over the next two weeks while bringing her stage play, “My First Ex-Husband,” to a new audience across the pond. On the podcast, Behar said, “I fly to Paris this week,” while also explaining her busy schedule.

Talking about her hiatus from “The View,” Joy Behar said that after Paris, “I go take the tunnel to London after a week, and I’ll be in London the second week doing my play, ‘My First Ex-Husband,’ at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End.” She will share the stage with comedian Jackie Hoffman. The two play American women alongside a pair of British actors, and the production already enjoyed a run in New York, which is why the London show matters to her.
Executive producer Brian Teta used the conversation to map out who sits at the table while Behar is away. He did not keep it a secret, revealing that Sheryl Underwood, a staple guest host and former “The Talk” panelist, will fill in for two days. Moreover, journalist Kara Swisher will step in the following week. Meanwhile, Ana Navarro, who normally appears only on Mondays and Fridays, will add extra days to her schedule.
Then Teta dropped a scheduling note that surprised even him a little, noting that Whoopi Goldberg will work Fridays during Behar’s absence, even though Goldberg typically has Fridays off. Teta even joked on the podcast that she probably does not know about the change yet.
The temporary setup keeps the panel stacked with strong personalities while “The View” waits for Joy Behar’s hiatus to be over — and while she will be back at the table soon enough, for now, the substitute hosts have large shoes to fill.
